
About the OnTrack Diabetes Team
Mandy Cassimatis
Mandy co-wrote the content for OnTrack Diabetes and is trialling the program for her PhD in Psychology at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and the Wesley Research Institute in Brisbane. She started with interviews of people with Type 2 diabetes and General Practitioners to get information about their experiences with managing diabetes and the types of challenges they wanted support to deal with.
Sophie Parham
Sophie is currently doing her PhD on some interesting outcomes from the OnTrack Diabetes project. Specifically, Sophie is exploring the links between glycaemic control and cognitive function, and has a hands-on role with practical aspects of the trial.
Professor David Kavanagh
Prof Kavanagh is a research professor in the Institute of Health & Biomedical Innovation and School of Psychology & Counselling at QUT, with extensive experience as a clinical psychologist and researcher. David leads the OnTrack research team, which has built a series of programs to support people to self-manage their substance use and other psychological problems. David co-wrote the content for OnTrack Diabetes, and is collaborating with Mandy in evaluating the program.
Professor Andrew Hills
Prof Hills is a Professor of Allied Health Research at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane. His field is Human Movement studies and he has been involved in previous trials related to exercise and Type 2 diabetes. Andrew provided information for the program’s information resources.
Associate Professor Anthony Smith
A/Prof Smith is the Deputy Director of the University of Queensland (UQ) Centre for Online Health in Brisbane. He specialises in conducting trials on technology-based interventions, such as the web and video conferencing, including those on Type 2 diabetes.
Professor Paul Scuffham
Prof Scuffham is the Inaugural Professor of Health Economics at Griffith University in Brisbane. He will be calculating whether OnTrack Diabetes is cost effective.
Mr Steven Edge and Mr Jeremy Gibson
Steve and Jeremy are Information Technology professionals on David Kavanagh’s team at QUT. They created the IT programming logic for the OnTrack suite of programs, including OnTrack Diabetes.
